Back in 2013, being that I was always on the computer it was hard to keep track of time and what I needed to do. So I did what any developer would do. Developed a JARVIS-esque assistant that would help me remember things. This was back when Alexa and Google Home's were not available at the time so I took a stab at it myself:
Unfortunately, speech recognition software was not quite as good as it is today so I would have to type in my input, however it would still respond back in a text-to-speech robot voice and give me that true JARVIS feel. It was a pretty cool project at the time. I was able to give myself reminders and set google calendar events. It was even able to play my local music and videos that I had stored on my computer by name. All I would need to type is "Play (SONG TITLE)" and off it went. It even texted me my reminders when I was away!
Needless to say when the Amazon Alexas and Google Home's came out a few years later I felt like I missed the boat here!
